See those tasty cubes just above? They’re cookies and cream marshmallows. Finished making them about an hour ago. All credit on this tasty combo goes to Lisa Pezzuto.
As some of you know, I’ve been making marshmallows for the past several months. I was curious on how they were originally made, and ended up trying a few recipes on my own. After bringing a few batches to work, the President of Latina Magazine saw how much everyone enjoyed then and suggested that I go in to business (as gourmet marshmallows are obviously an under served market.) I hesitated at first, because I find that making work out of anything I enjoy tends to end in disaster, but after after enough encouragement decided to give it a shot.
Cynthia Lewis, the President of Latina Magazine, took a few sample boxes of marshmallows and before I could even think, she had people who were interested in possibly selling them in their markets. Fast forward about a month, to yesterday, and I’m in a market in East Hampton talking about possibly selling marshmallows. It looks like it’s going to happen, and before Memorial Day! I just need to finalize my packaging, labels, and come up with a price to sell to the market at. There has been talk about selling in other shops and markets, but I’m dedicating 100% of my time to making things work at the Hampton Market Place. Steve, the manager, has been so friendly and willing to give me the chance that I have no reason or desire to look elsewhere right now. Of course, I’d love to see my marshmallows in shops all over the place, but I want to start slow and get things right.
I have a brand name in mind, and even several versions of a logo and packaging in place, but don’t want to say any more until my friend handling the legal side of everything gives me the OK. Stay tuned!
