I was recently given the opportunity to move in to an office at my job. Did I move? Hell yes! It feels so good to have a private work space again. Not that much of the work I do needs privacy or anything, it’s just nice not having a lot of foot traffic to deal with. I’m managing to get quite a bit more work done and being able to close the door while on a conference call or while meeting with coworkers is making a huge difference. The only downside of being in the office is that I’m starting to feel a bit disconnected from everyone. I had been sitting in an area of the floor occupied by the editorial and digital staff for nearly two yearsand even though they are about 20 feet away, I feel like I never see them anymore ![]()
The extra working space couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m working on several large projects at the moment and I couldn’t imagine not being able to make a mess or just have a quiet space to work in right now.
My office windows face the Conde Nast building on 43rd and Broadway, and the Nasdaq sign on the corner makes the entire space have this odd blue glow at night. Fancy.
