Reel Big Fish and The English Beat are playing NY’s Nokia Theatre this Thursday evening.
I was practically tortured for going to RBF’s last local peformance, and neglecting to tell my friend Kat about the show, so she’ll be coming along this time. Hopefully she’ll totally forget about not going to their last show. I’ll be watching my back though, she’s sneaky and surprisingly strong.
Reel Big Fish always puts on a great show, and I can’t wait to see how their performance has changed since their last album was released back in January. There was a distinct change for the better after leaving their former label and the release of their last two albums, and I’d expect the trend to continue.
I’m really not sure what to expect from The English Beat. I’m excited to check out their show since I’ve never seen them live before, but I don’t think that I’d go to a show if they were the main act. I’m never one to turn away from live music though, so I’m still psyched to see them. It would be great to see some of the other 2 tone ska revival acts from overseas make their way over to the states some time soon… That means you, Specials.
Here’s a clip of RBF covering “Take on Me” from their last show I went to. I was in a knee brace back then and didn’t want to get too far in to the crowd. No brace and no limits this time around!
One more thing – The Supervillians will be opening the show. I’ve never seen them before. Can’t wait!
