One of the best parts of working in Times Square was the super easy to access to a lot of concerts. When I learned that Latina was moving to a new office space, outside of Times Square, I immediately realized that I probably wouldn’t be going to shows as often as I have been for the past few years. It’s not like it’s terribly inconvenient being a few subway stops away or anything, I’ll just have to pay attention to who is playing where from now on; No more walking down the street for lunch and seeing a schedule of shows.
Once I learned that Streetlight Manifesto was playing a show less than 2 blocks away from the office, I literally ran down 42nd Street to get tickets. I probably looked like a kid on Christmas morning while walking back to work, with a grin from ear to ear, knowing that the last show I’d catch while working in the area would be a great one…
This was one of the last of Streetlight Manifesto’s last performances for a while so they decided to perform their album, Somewhere In The Between, in its entirety. The performance was top notch, despite a few minor problems and Tomas temporarily losing his voice towards the end. They’ve toured constantly for nearly 5 years, and certainly deserve a break.

My buddy Rob and an old coworker came to the show. Rob brought his girlfriend with him, which was a welcome surprise. He mentioned that a friend might be joining, and I just figured it was someone we’ve gone to shows with before. Oh and check out the ultra sweet Glassjaw shirt I’m wearing. That’s not RL polo embroidery on there. It’s a terrorist holding an AK-47 to the sky, baby.

We stayed in our booth for the majority of the night but towards the end Rob and I were just like, “oh fuck it!” and jumped right in to the crowd. Streetlight played What A Wicked Gang Are We, and then Point/Keasbey/Counterpoint and The Big Sleep for the encore.

As always, Streetlight’s performance was amazing. It’s hard to believe that they have so much energy on stage after nearly half of a decade of non-stop touring. They played their last performance for some time a few weeks ago, and I’m hoping they’re getting some quality time off, while thinking about new material, of course.
Here are some clips from the show:
On a side note, I noticed that my Jeep was hitting 200,000 miles just as I drove in to my driveway. That’s right, 200,000 miles. The used car dealership my old boss (who I eventually bought it from) bought it from fucked with the odometer and lowered it by 100,000 miles before selling it to him. They also had some other weird shit going on with it, but been running beautifully since I got my hands on it, so who cares – even if a few doors have fallen off over the years.

And yes, my Jeep is a “she” – named Vivian. Don’t ask. Seriously.
